A Well-written note on the Guild Stone

Post  Jtipton on Fri Oct 30, 2009 5:16 pm

*The note seems carefully written, on decent-quality paper...*

To those of the RPS:

I apologize for not putting this up sooner, but I took the liberties of placing protective wards upon the Dunbarton Library. Since we have rather...diverse personalities and goals within our society, I thought it best to have a place where we can gather in relative safety. So far as I know, the wards protect against the following when used with harmful intent: Elemental magic, divine magic, Necromancy, physical attacks, thrown weapons, attempts at mind-control, and attacking with the environment. However, the nature of the wards makes them unpredictable at times, but, as far as this humble spellcaster can tell, they will either prevent the offensive action from taking place at all, nullify its effect, or cause a backlash upon the individual attacking. Again, I apologize for not informing you all about this sooner, but I had pressing matters, as well as confirming if the wards were effective or not.

Sincerely,
Richard Harkins

PS: ...Recent events have revealed to me that, while the wards are effective, a sufficiently powerful attack could weaken or destroy them...Please be careful, and do not allow complacency to lure you into a dangerous situation.

((Between all the fights in the library, Jinn and I thought it would be a good idea to have something like this. xP))

*A message is delivered and posted onto the guild stone*

"Good to see a few more protective mesures put in place.
Just to inform everyone, I also set up a field to block all varieties of teleportation within the Library

Just hit the switch under the desk to re-activate it

A mat of flat bamboo slivers has the following words painted upon in in a small yet meticulous style.

During one of his periods of magical "creativity" Cap has created a number of hidden circles of power throughout the library space.
There are small visible disks of colour hidden throughout the room.
The circles themselves are well hidden and can not be detected until active.

The colour of the disk is the colour of the corresponding candle that needs to be placed upon it and lit.
The words of power required for activation are inscribed on the candles.
You will find candles in the usual spots as well as an assortment hidden in each of the book stacks.
They are Heal, Regeneration, Resurrection, Necromancy, Protection, Summoning, imprisonment, transportation, transformation (warning very dangerous to use without preparation) and Gate (extremely dangerous without a destination anchor item)

The only exception are the blood-stones which require the spilling of blood on them to activate the corresponding circles.
Do NOT activate them unless desperate.
These are DRAIN circles and when activated will drain any and all energy starting with Mana, Light/Dark power, stamina and eventually life.
Casters Gain the energy collected but may suffer from overload, transmission burn or both.
These circles have a continuous passive effect plus a directed effect by the caster if within the circle.
Do NOT activate.

In extreamly fine print.
The ink is a slightly different colour, as if it was added as an afterthought.

- Cap may have created a Circle Matrix -
Do not under any circumstances attempt to use such a thing if it does exist
EVER

OOC - as a side note, I had assumed that the elemental protections already in place should prevent mundane disasters as a fire from occurring any more.

Now if some high powered Heirophant Archmage happened to drop a "storm of vengance" or a demigod of some sort got really annoyed, that would be something else. Wink

dweramond finds a neatly folded piece of parchment hidden between the planks of wood.
Curiosity taking the better of him he pulls it out finding that it is addressed to him.

In a very neat and precise script the message reads on as follows.

.... as well I do have a suggestion for your little problem with those who call themselves Paladins.
In my researches I have come across some interesting formulas that may be of help.

There is a list of library references here

Read up on these and you should have a passable, if not viable, clone.
All that is left after that is to change your body to something a bit different as well as how you behave.

You may then deliver the expired clone for the reward while wearing your new look.
The reward should cover the costs of producing the clone.

Signed

A Freind
